Context
CAPTRON’s North American opportunity began with a very small sales base: roughly $4,000 in 2014.
Challenge
A subsidiary required evidence of market demand. The first task was to find applications, establish partners and build customer traction.
What was built
A distribution network across the United States, Mexico and Canada, new applications and a business case for a North American subsidiary.
How it worked
Application development gave commercial outreach a specific customer problem to address. Distributor development translated that focus into local market coverage and customer acquisition.
Result
North American sales reached approximately $800,000 in 2017. Export share increased from 21% to 53%. New applications and portfolio development contributed more than $10 million in additional global revenue; that is a global result, separate from the North American figures.
What companies can learn
Use market traction to inform the investment decision. Partners, applications and customer demand can establish the evidence needed to build a local organization.
