Context
Schlegel’s US business was built from the ground up through an INTUTEC mandate. The starting point was a two-person core team and an initial budget of approximately $250,000.
Challenge
The business needed local market access, a pipeline and the ability to handle orders without a large administrative organization. Go-to-market decisions had to fit the available people, budget and liquidity.
What was built
The work combined GTM strategy, profitability planning, liquidity management and a custom CRM/ERP system. The market approach included intralogistics, process automation, agrarobotics and defense. Commercial and order workflows were designed around a lean operating structure.
How it worked
An automated lead-to-ERP process connected qualification, regional assignment, customers and distributors, quotations and orders. Fulfilment and reporting formed the downstream part of the workflow. Defined handovers reduced the need to manually reconstruct information between stages.
Result
The business developed to more than 2,500 orders per year after scaling. The two-person figure describes the initial core team; it is not a claim about staffing at every later stage. The case demonstrates the combination of market entry and digital process implementation.
What companies can learn
Design the work before adding complexity. A local commercial presence becomes more scalable when lead ownership, quoting, order data and reporting are connected from the start.
